A century of art and culture

Hotel Continental has been associated with the arts and cultural life in Oslo since actors and artists made Theatercaféen their regular meeting place in the early 20th century.

“Take care of the artists,” was founder Caroline Boman Hansen’s comment in her day. That laid the basis for a tradition reflected today in such aspects as our collection of Munch prints, the art glass in selected rooms, the sculptures in the lobby and the portraits in Theatercaféen.

In recent times, our inspiration has been classic contemporary style. Our antiques harmonise well with modern art and design. A wander around the hotel offers a journey through history and Norwegian culture. Guests can enjoy such artworks as:
