Ellen and Caspar Brochmann’s daughter, Elisabeth Caroline Brochmann, began running the hotel in 1985. She had graduated from business school in Switzerland with a degree in business administration, and only decided to take over the family business from her mother once she had started studying. Periods working at hotels in London, Hamburg and Lyon gave her broad experience.
Elisabeth has demonstrated the desire and ability to maintain and modernise the building. Under her direction, Hotel Continental opened a new bar, LIPP (1991), built a conference centre (1995) and remodelled the Annen Etage restaurant (1998). During the period 2006 to 2018, Elisabeth has provided extensive renovation of hotel rooms, Theatercaféen, the event facilities, reception and lobby bar.
The largest renovation in Hotel Continental's history was finalized in 2018, including a new reception, lobby bar and lounge BAR BOMAN and the remodelling of 59 luxurious hotel rooms and suites. The icing on the cake was the Continental Suite - a 240 sqm one-of-a-kind suite over two floors. As a conclusion to an extensive project, CASBAR opened in January 2020 - a new bar and pizzeria in Olav Vs gate.
All 151 rooms and suites have now been completely refurbished and the property appears as a world-class luxury hotel with a classic contemporary look and feel. A family tradition stretching over four generations lives on in Elisabeth.
